Happy Two Month Famil-versary!

To celebrate the two month "anniversary" of our Family Day, I'm posting a few family and Silas photos taken by our new sister-in-law's daughter, Courtney, at her mom's wedding in Maine.  She's a very talented photographer to make us look this good!  :-)

Such a Big Boy

Silas posed for some photos yesterday to show off his new bug shirt.  His great aunt, Mary, embroidered it for him, and he just loves it!  It's definitely a favorite.  You can just see how proud and excited he is to be wearing it.  

We can't get over what a big boy he looks like in these pictures.  In the last picture, he's using his sign language to ask for milk.  Well, it's the sign for milk, but he uses it to ask for milk, juice, water--generally, something to drink.  The serious look he gets on his face when he uses his signs is priceless.

Silas is changing every day, and growing up so fast.   Yesterday, he walked all the way to the playground and back with me.  He didn't want me to carry him, but I insisted on holding his hand.  Other than becoming an expert walker, he's actively working on climbing up and down steps, eating with a fork, and figuring out how to play with his new mega blocks and Cat equipment.

Back from New England

We had our first family vacation this weekend as we traveled to Maine for Brian's brother's wedding.  It was so much fun introducing Silas to the Dixon clan.  Here's a picture of all the Dixon kids together with their mom for the first time since 1997.

Silas had a ball making the rounds with the family, being spoiled by his aunts, and playing with empty soda cans.  

After the wedding, we drove down to New Hampshire to visit my hometown.  It was a long drive, but Silas handled it like a trooper!

It was cold and rainy most of the weekend, but that didn't stop us from stopping in York Beach to visit the Animal Park and the Goldenrod for lunch.  Silas enjoyed the Goldenrod, and let us know that he now likes ice cream.  Black raspberry to be exact.  

We were only in NH for about 30 hours, but it was nice to visit a few of the old haunts again.  We took a walk to the South Playground, drove down to the beach, and Silas got to meet his great aunt and uncle, Joanne and Jack.  It was a really nice day.

There was some construction going on outside of our hotel, which provided several minutes of enjoyment for Silas.  He was transfixed by the activity going on.  We later realized that he is obsessed with power shovels, so we went to ToysRUs and bought him a kiddie Cat.  It's his new favorite toy!

Weekly Update

It's been a busy week, so we haven't had much free time to update the blog.  Silas had his appointment with the ENT doctor, and they are recommending both ear tubes and his fistulae repair be done as soon as possible.  Silas has suffered some minor hearing loss due to the fluid build-up in his ears, but the doctor thinks it will be reversible with the ear tubes.  We're hoping to get the surgery done in early July, but the doctors may not be able to coordinate scheduling until August.

This weekend, we had a visit from our dear friends, the Carmodys.  Silas just had a blast being spoiled by "Aunt" Taysha and "Uncle" Aaron.  On Friday, we took Silas out for his first sushi dinner.  Well, the grownups ate sushi, while Silas flung Cheerios (and just about everything else he could get his hands on) at people from his high chair.  He's going through a throwing phase now, which is giving us lots of good exercise.  :)  On Saturday, the boys played in the pool again, while Mom and Aunt Taysha prepared a low country shrimp boil and wild blueberry pie for dinner.  Silas seems to have lost all fear of the pool, but still hates the grass.  He refuses to walk on it in his bare feet.  You can't really blame him.  The grass in Florida is prickly!

Silas recently learned how to climb up onto his easy chair, and is now learning how to use it to climb up onto other things.  His development is really taking off, but we have to watch him like a hawk!  The good news is, we have an extra set of eyes in Josie.  She watches Silas like a hawk, too!  But that might have more to do with the flying Cheerios...
