Silas is doing really well these days. The sleeping has returned to normal for the most part. And the ear tubes seem to be working. Last Friday, Silas woke up with all kinds of fluid and gunk coming out of his left ear. Sure enough, it was another ear infection (number 5), but at least the tubes are doing their job! Thankfully, we only have to do ear drops for 10 days and not oral antibiotics again.
Since Silas wasn't really feeling any discomfort from his ear infection, we decided to proceed with our plan to take him to Disney for the day on Saturday. I always said we'd wait until Silas was old enough to remember his first time at Disney, but we had day passes that were about to expire, and kids under 3 or free, so it was an inexpensive way to spend the day (of course, that's before you factor in food and souvenirs. That's how they get ya!)
We had such a great time. As you can see from the pictures (which aren't great, I know), Silas was mostly just bewildered at everything he was seeing.
Silas took it all in, and wasn't fussy or afraid, even as hot as it was. We rode the monorail, the Toy Story ride, the teacups, and Winnie the Pooh. He loved the Haunted House, and rode the magic carpets with Dad. When we finally hit the Pirates of the Caribbean, it was well past nap time. Silas conked out shortly after the big drop, and didn't wake up until we were on our way to the car about 30 minutes later.
In addition to our Disney adventure, Silas is really enjoying his new daycare. He's learning so much, and he's starting to show some signs of speech. He's been saying "Elmo" (which sounds more like "Meh-mo") for a while now, and today he started saying "mine." He also barks to refer to Josie and meows to refer to Mallory. We'll be meeting with Early Steps in a couple of weeks to get a full developmental evaluation, and probably get him into speech therapy, but he's really doing great. We couldn't be more proud of our little peanut.
