Happy 18-Month Birthday!!

Silas turned 18 months old today!  He is every bit the toddler these days--inquisitive, exuberant, and very, very stubborn!  This is a boy who knows what he wants, and even though he's not speaking yet, he makes sure he gets his point across.   He seems to be bonding with us very well.  He's very affectionate with us--routinely giving hugs and kisses, even upon request.  With respect to his sleep issues, things have improved exponentially since the sleep strike came to an end.  Although it was only a few weeks, there were times when we wondered if he would ever sleep again!  Funny that now, Silas goes to bed without so much as a peep, and he has been sleeping through the night more often than not.

We're still not sure about the outcome of his palate surgery.  He has a follow up in a couple of weeks, and we should find out more then.  We have a follow up with the ear surgeon tomorrow, and are excited to see how much his hearing has improved since the ear tubes were inserted.  We're also hoping for clearance to start swimming lessons.  On Saturday, we visited what will be Silas' new daycare center in a couple of weeks.  We toured the new facility and met new teachers, Miss Emily and Miss Christy.  Silas wasn't very excited about any of it until he saw the swimming pool.  Then, he was all about it!  He would have jumped right in if we'd let him.

As for daycare, after two weeks, Silas seems to be adjusting very well.  He still does not like it when we leave him, but he appears to recover pretty quickly, and jumps right in to playing with the other kids.  As much as its hard to leave him with strangers, he does seem to be getting a lot of stimulation and exercise, and the look on his face when we arrive to pick him up is worth a million bucks!
